Blue Hills Trail
The Blue Hills Trail System has over 35 kilometers of fabulous cross-country trails looping through one of Wisconsin's most beautiful landscapes. In winter, the Blue Hills are absolutely magical, with a variety of scenery that is unmatched. Both skating and classical style skiing are accommodated by this unsurpassed trail system. This extensive system of trails offers something for every ability level. If you're looking for great skiing in truly gorgeous surroundings, the Blue Hills Trail System is for you. From Bruce, head 8 miles northwest on Highway O. One-half mile east of Christie Mountain, you'll find Fire Lane Road. Head north on Fire Lane Road for 2½ miles. See map.

Sisters' Farm Trail
Sisters' Farm Trail System provides 12 kilometers of groomed trails along the Flambeau River. Enjoy wonderful scenery along one of Wisconsin's most famous riverways on some excellent trails. Both classical and skating type skiing are supported by this trail system. Trails range from beginner level to expert. To get there from Ladysmith, head south on Highway 27 one mile. Go west on College Avenue one mile to Port Arthur Road, then 2 miles to Sisters' Farm Road. Head south 1½ miles to the trailhead. See map.

Ladysmith High School Trail
Ladysmith High School Lighted Loop is one mile in length and is lit until 10pm every night during the season. The trail is a great way to catch a few more hours of skiing before bedtime on a nicely groomed trail. Ski this trail and you'll quickly understand why it's a favorite with both locals and visitors. The nearby Greenwood Park Trail provides snowshoeing opportunities—it's a great place for beginner snowshoers to get a feel for the sport. From Ladysmith, take Highway 8 east to Rocky Ridge Rd. Snowshoeing

Ice Age National Scenic Trail – Northwestern, WI
The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a perfect snowshoeing destination. The glaciers that pushed through Wisconsin left their distinct mark on the landscape—in fact, Wisconsin is the best place in the country to see the effects of the glaciers. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail was designed to showcase a wide variety of glacial formations, making it a trail that's full of scenic variety. The rock outcroppings you'll see are quartzite, unique to the Blue Hills and are estimated by geologists to be 1.6 billion years old! Don't miss the wonderful discoveries you'll find along the way. Cross-country skiing is also allowed on the trail. See map.

Flambeau Reclaimed Mine Site Trails
Snowshoe five miles of trails running through this former mine site. The trails are relatively flat and excellent for beginner snowshoers. The trail is located one mile south of Ladysmith on Highway 27. Learn more about the trails and the Flambeau Reclaimed Mine Site.

County Forest Land
County forest lands in Rusk County provide excellent snowshoeing opportunities. If you are looking to get far from civilization and have a real taste for wilderness adventure, the vast tracts of public wild lands you'll find in the Blue Hills area are just what you are looking for. Many lakes, rivers and streams, as well as a variety of habitat make these public lands exciting places to explore during the winter. Grab your snowshoes and trek the hundreds of miles of logging trails and paths. Enjoy some of the best preserved wilderness in Wisconsin. Downhill Skiing

Christie Mountain
Christie Mountain in Bruce features 21 runs, 19 of which are lighted. This includes two 4-Black Diamond category runs. This awesome ski hill has excellent snowfall as well as great snow-making capabilities, making it a dependable choice for downhill skiing. There is a full range of rental equipment available, as well as lessons for beginners. In addition to downhill skiing, Christie Mountain also has facilities for snowboarders and a new park exclusively for snow-tubing. Snow-tubing is a great way for families to enjoy the slopes—it requires no special skills, but it's incredibly thrilling. Skiers of all levels will find trails to suit their abilities. The scenery at Christie Mountain is spectacular, with lots of great views and beautiful rock outcroppings.

Enjoy some fun on the slopes in one of the most beautiful places in all the Midwest at Christie Mountain. To get to Christie Mountain from Bruce, head 9½ miles northwest on Highway O. The ski hill is located one-half mile west of the Blue Hills Trail. See map of the ski runs.
